Born in Yerevan, Armenia into a family of musicians,
Levon Mouradian started playing the cello at the age of six, in
the class of Professor Tchaauchian at the specialist school for
gifted children in Yerevan.
He continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatoire with Professor
M. Khomitser, where he completed his Masters Degree. He began performing
publicly at the age of 10 when he won First Prize for interpretation
in a competition in Armenia for young Armenian musicians. At the
age of 14, he played as soloist with the State Symphony Orchestra
of Armenia, directed by Maestro D. Khandjian, performing Tchaikovsky's
Roccoco Variations.
Levon Mouradian has performed with major orchestras of the former
Soviet Union, including the Moscow Philharmonic, the USSR Radio
and Television Orchestra and the Moscow Symphonic. He has also played
with the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra,the Sao Paulo Symphony
Orchestra, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Porto National Orchestra
and the Symphony Orchestra of Timisoara. He has also appeared with
the Armenian Philharmonic, the Armenian State Chamber Orchestra,
the Georgian Philharmonic under such eminent conductors as Valery
Gergiev,Veronika Dudarova,Gennadi Rozhdestvensky,Jansug Kakhidze,
David Khandjian, Omri Hadari, Daniel Nazare, and Gheorge Kostin
among others.
Levon Mouradian has given numerous concerts in the USA, Holland,
Germany, France, Japan, Korea, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Yugoslavia,
Brasil, Hungary and his native Armenia.

Since 1994, Levon Mouradian has been directing the cello class
in the department of Arts at the State University in Evora, Portugal.
He regularly gives advanced classes at the "Valle De Arlanza"
Festival in Spain, and at the International Festival in Viana do
Castello, with Ivan Monigetti, Nathaniel Rosen and others.
He has taught Master Class on the invitation of the University
of Georgia (U.S.A.). He was a member of the Jury at the Julio Cardona
International String Competition" in April 2003.He has performed
as soloist and in chamber music groups at major international Music
Festivals, in particular in those of Munich (Nachtstuke), David
Oistrakh Festival, Santander (Interational Music Festival), Burgos
, Cangas de Onis, Madeira, Coimbra, Algarve, Sintra Leiria and Tomar.
He has taken part in a range of formations with the musicians Sergei
Khachatrian, David Chang, Gena Raps, Patrick Dheur,Wilfred Strele,
Michael Frohnmeyer, Thomas Leaander, Vadim Sakharov, Jeroen Riemsdijk,
Yuri Zhislin, Tania Ashot, Daniel Roland and others.
He has recorded a variety of works by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak,
Debussy and Tchaikovsky vitch, and of other composers, for RDP Antena
2, the publisher Melody and Dutch Record Company, where he is one
of the principal instrumentalists.
He has made various CD among which one edited by Clave Records
(Spain) which features the A. Babadjanian Piano Trio and Seven Pieces
by Komitas – Aslamazian (Clave Records, Spain), and two CD’s
with the Piano Trio and Piano Quartet and cello works by the Dutch
composer Wim Zwaag (Dutch Record Company, Holland), among which
a cello and piano sonata which was dedicated to him, A cello concerto
composed by Ivan Moody was also dedicated to him.
Levon Mouradian plays on a XVIII century Venetian cello from Gofriller
workshop.
